What is Beyond the Cloud?
Beyond the Cloud offers employers the opportunity to enhance the skills of their existing workforce or hire from a pool of trained, job-ready professionals.
What did I learn?
Upon acceptance into the program I was placed in the Backend Developer - II cohort to hone my skills in server side and API development.
Over the 10 week program I completed 3 course listed below:
- AWS Digital Classroom - Running Containers on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service
- Version Control by Meta (Git)
- The Full Stack by Meta (Full-Stack Django)
As well as courses focused on leveling up soft skills:
- Emotional Intelligence: Cultivating Immensely Human Interactions
- Negotiation Skills and Effective Communication
Capstone Project
The final 4 week of the program gave me the opportunity to work with my fellow students and join an active project and combine our skillsets to achieve a common goal. This project was facilitated through Riipen - a work based learning platform.
Working alongside participants from other cohorts (DevOps, Database Administration & Cloud Engineering) we helped improve and add features to an existing Django codebase.
It’s a great experience being dropped into a production codebase using a technology I am less comfortable in and finding success. It was a really motivating to know that I could contribute to a professional development team.
